Marketing Intern — May 2021- August 2021

Innovation First has three umbrella companies, and the marketing team was responsible for HEXBUG Robotic Toys and VEX Robotics. The company used both in-house and out of house methods to run the marketing, advertising and PR branches. I joined a team of 5 and we were able to closely collaborate on both brands. As soon as I was hired, I got the opportunity to jump right into multiple projects, many with tight deadlines. During my time as an intern I was able to:

  • Create social media content for multiple outlets  (examples below)

  • Send out PR boxes from start to finish

  • Create packaging copy

  • Create online product descriptions

  • Organize Tradeshow material

  • I even got to be in a product commercial and photos!!!

I am proud to say I was able to keep up in this fast-paced environment and thrived on successfully working as a team. As an intern I was included in day-to day activities and learned so much about the industry and myself in such a short time.

Being able to collaborate with other teams such as graphic design, video, sales and engineering was something I loved. The team spirit is something I really enjoy and can’t wait to dive into my career to continue this with equally passionate people!.

HEXBUG: The robotic toy company’s brand voice was very casual and upbeat. Our target audience ranged from teens to parents. Our goals for the brands social media is to show off new toys and features and lead them to the website.

VEX: This brand had a target audience of teens to around age 50. It’s’ wide age range is because schools use the VEX Robotics program which most school teams compete in. The goal of social media communications would be to spread awareness of useful tools students, teachers, and parents can use.
